The Satyr Lounge Kitchen: Norwegian Cuisine

I am the Hedonistic Satyr and welcome to the Satyr Lounge Kitchen. Every three months myself and ZenDen hold a cooking stream on Joystick.tv where we create fantastic dishes for our viewers, and the theme for July was Norwegian cuisine. On the menu we have:

  • Blue Cheese and Pear Compote Appetizer
  • Brennsnut (vegetable and dumpling stew)
  • Fiskskivenbrød med Gjetost (open face salmon sandwich with goat cheese)
  • Fruktsoppa (Swedish Fruit Soup, made off-stream)

Appetizer: Blue Cheese and Pear Compote Appetizer

The appetizer for tonight is blue cheese and pear compote on toasted rye bread. Because of time constraints, the pear compote was created head of time before the stream.

Once the hazelnuts and rye bread are finished toasting, we combine those ingredients with the pear compote that was created before the stream. The bleu cheese is spread on the rye bread, followed by a spoonful of compote and a sprinkle of minced toasted hazelnuts.

Main Dish: Brennsnut

Satyr begins to chop the vegetables for the vegetable and dumpling stew. The stew will contain potatoes, carrots, onion, celery, rutabaga, fennel root, mushrooms, mushroom stock and various spices.

Next, Satyr prepares the dumplings and afterwards adds them to the vegetable stew.

Main Dish: Fiskskivenbrød med Gjetost

Zen prepares his homemade barley bread with flax, sunflower, and pumpkin seeds.

Zen prepares his salmon using lemon juice and various herbs and spices.

Once the flaxseed bread is finished We give it a taste.

The seasoned fish is taken out and placed on the flaxseed bread and topped with goat cheese. Once completed the fish is placed in the oven to bake.

The Complete Meal

After four hours of cooking, the meal is finally complete. Afterwards we enjoyed the Fruktsoppa as a desert.

Wrapping Up

The mean came out fantastic. The goat cheese topped salmon was hearty, the vegetable and dumpling stew was a nice compliment to the meal and the fruktsoppa was a nice book end to the dinner.
