The Texas Hound
You may know the amazing Texas Hound from his OF accounts, and Hot adult content, I know we do!! But if you didn’t already know. he is a fully certified personal trainer. As its the new year and we all may need to loose a few pounds after the holiday blow outs we thought we would catch up with him to help us out. Take a look at our interview here:
David Goodman: Tell us a little about your background.
Texas Hound: I started my career in tech as a software programmer, but fitness was always a passion of mine. After completing my master’s degree and moving back to New York, I decided to pursue that passion full-time. Becoming a NASM-certified personal trainer was a natural next step, and it allowed me to share my love for fitness with others.
My own fitness journey has been anything but straightforward. I’ve navigated significant weight fluctuations, dropping nearly 100 pounds, and worked through a persistent knee issue that changed how I train. These challenges shaped my philosophy: fitness isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about feeling strong, mobile, and capable in your daily life. Through my business, Body By Hound, I help clients embrace slow and steady progress while building strength and confidence along the way.

DG: What’s important for bigger guys to understand about being healthy?
TH: Health isn’t just about appearance—it’s about how you move, function, and feel in your everyday life. For bigger guys, improving strength and mobility is essential, not just for activities like walking or bending, but also for enhancing your sex life.
Being able to hold your body in various positions—whether you’re staying on all fours, keeping your legs in the air, or supporting your partner—requires strength, stamina, and flexibility. A strong, mobile bear is not only sexy but also capable of fully enjoying intimate moments. By focusing on movement and functional strength, you’re investing in your health and your pleasure.

DG: Can we get fit without lifting?
TH: Sure we can! Fitness is about movement, not just lifting weights. You can build strength, improve your health, and stay active with bodyweight exercises, resistance bands, yoga, swimming, or even dancing. The key is finding activities you enjoy and sticking with them.
That said, I encourage everyone to explore resistance training at some point—it’s one of the most efficient ways to build muscle, protect your joints, and boost metabolism. But the most important thing is to start moving, however that works best for you.

DG: What are your top three pieces of advice to help someone start in the gym?
TH: Start slow and focus on form: It’s better to lift lighter weights with good technique than to risk injury by going too heavy. Build a strong foundation first.
Be consistent: Even if you’re not up for a full workout, just show up. Do 10 minutes of walking on the treadmill to get into the habit. Make it fun—turn it into a game or find an aspect of the gym experience you enjoy, like listening to your favorite playlist.
Ask for help: Whether it’s a trainer or a more experienced gym-goer, don’t hesitate to seek guidance. Everyone starts somewhere, and the more you learn, the better your experience will be.
DG: How can people work out with you?
TH: I offer in-person training in three neighborhoods in New York City, providing tailored fitness programs for clients at any level. For those outside NYC—or for busy professionals who prefer flexibility—I offer virtual coaching.
My background in technology allows me to enhance the virtual experience with tools like online and app-based tracking, video training, and personalized nutrition meal plans. For in-person clients who purchase packages, coaching via the app ensures our training doesn’t stop when the session ends—you’ll have guidance to keep progressing between sessions.
DG: Thanks Hound, we can’t wait to try out some of your advice! Bears, make sure you keep up with the Hound, at all these links, and please support his work.
